Khartoum American School has consistently matriculated students who model for their families and the world our four core values:  character, citizenship, community and curriculum.  When college professors, new teachers, business people, relatives and others meet a student who is educated at KAS, you will always hear them remark “Wow, that person is really impressive” or “We love having your students join us.  They are remarkably good students and good people.”

This is accomplished by the school’s commitment to the social, physical and emotional development of each child as well as a commitment to academic excellence.  And, the creation of learning opportunities that allow students to grow in their own ways toward lives of integrity begets children who live the core values inside and outside the school.

Over the past four years during the Sudan civil war, one other aspect of character has taken on the utmost importance;  resilience.  KAS students, families and faculty have had no choice but to pick themselves up from the most challenging of circumstances, make arrangements for “school” to continue from all over the world and succeed in situations that are daunting and stressful.  The resilience that has been shown is truly remarkable.  Academic learning has continued as has the production of students who still impress all that they meet with their development as good people capable of making a truly positive impact on their families, their communities and the world.
